Plymouth Leander run a series of open meets each season aimed at swimmers of all levels and abilities. They range from the more local Level 3 meets which are designed to allow swimmers to qualify for the county or regional championships, through to national qualifying level 1s. The results were as follows: Girls 9 yrs Amber Houghton: Boys 10yrs Freddie Norman: Well done to all the swimmers. Diddy Meet - 26th June posted 1 Feb Presentations were made to the top six girls and boys within each age group based on points awarded for event placings. Only those swimmers who had not taken part in the County Blocks were eligible to swim.
For two of our swimmers Keely and Amber this was the first time they had taken part in this level of competition and both were very nervous however, both achieved personal best times and swam brilliantly finishing 2nd and 4th overall in the girls 9 year age group. Girls 9 years Keely Dawe: Overall placed joint 2nd.

They started with nerves, and climbed out without!!! The Development gala followed swiftly on, with all the afternoon swimmers turning up promptly and with smiles on faces. This resulted in the Development team being placed 1st overall, leaving with the Trophy accompanied by smiles from ear to ear.
Also records were broken in the ladies 4 x 1 Freestyle relay and the mixed 4 x 1 Freestyle relay. George Moss gained 2nd in m backstroke Katie Want gained 2nd in m backstroke and 3rd in m butterfly. Club Championships — 8th — 20th July There were 21 records broken at the club swimming championships in the different age groups. Carys Williams broke the 25m Backstroke record. This year the temperature was much colder and there were a number of swimmers stung by jelly fish.
More of our younger swimmers were able to take part as they are now Exeter Sprint competition — 15th September 7 swimmers took part in the sprint gala again.

Although it was once again a very long day 31 heats for girls m IM all swimmers did really well after their summer break. Emma Lowe gained 3rd in m Freestyle.
Katie Want gained 3rd in 50m butterfly. This year it was decided to revert back to separate presentation events for those who took part in the club championships and certificate swimmers.
This year the female swimmers of the year was Emily Walker and George Moss was the male swimmer. End of term — December As usual it was a fun session for the last Saturday before the Christmas holidays and the Monday squad sessions was replaced with a game of skittles in HMS Drake. A 6 lane 25m pool which was built from money mainly raised by Help for Heroes. It has a hydro pool, multipurpose gym and the pool has adjustable floor.
The only issue is the depth is quite shallow and there are no turn flags. The last sessions at the old pool were fun sessions with the older swimmers leaving the pool at the same time. It was a bit of an emotional event with many happy memories there. Most of the equipment was transferred to the new pool and plaques and pictures taken down.
Tia gained a 3rd in m backstroke and Denver 1st in the m butterfly Club Championships The club championships in July were held in the new pool with a great number of swimmers taking part with the majority of swimmers having personal best times.

Even some of the adults joined in. Katie went on with Nicola Porter to complete their life guarding award. She swam the 3km swim.
The conditions were quite cold and there were a number of swimmers stung by jellyfish. It was yet another tiring day but some personal best times were achieved, which was good after the summer holidays. Everyone Active first Junior Network gala- 20th September This was the first time this gala had taken place and had 23 of our young swimmers aged 9 some 8 to 12 years.
Most of the events were relays which gave the swimmers opportunity to raise the team spirit.
